LuxSpace Sarl entrusted by Eurostat with the Quality Control of the LUCAS 2009 Survey data
LuxSpace has been entrusted by the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat) to carry out the quality control of the data collected in the framework of the Land Use / Cover Area statisticval Survey (LUCAS). The LUCAS 2009 field survey is conducted in 23 European Union Member States and collects data on land cover and land use as well on on environmental relevant issues such as European landscapes, agricultural management methods and soil. The field survey starts mid April in the southern countries and last until August 2009.
Our tasks in this project are to
review the LUCAS Technical Reference Documents on the Nomenclature, the Instructions for Surveyors and the Data Quality Assurance and Control procedures (Jan-Mar 2009)
assist in the preparation and implementation of the LUCAS Training workshop for field survey managers (Feb 2009)
carry out the quality control of the collected LUCAS data using all available information, e.g. the landscape photographs taken during the survey, the LUCAS data from previous surveys, the orthophotos used by the field surveyors, the GPS tracks and so on (May-Sep 2009)
organise and manage the complete data flow from the field survey contractors to Eurostat
participate actively in LUCAS meetings, internal the European Commission and with delegates from the EU Member States
